For something a little bit naughty, but equally delicious, this chocolate tart recipe goes down a treat at any dinner party. It’s relatively simple to make and looks amazing with the chocolate ganache on top. Feel free to post pictures of your chocolate tart to us if you make it and share the recipe with your friends!
Prep Time: 15 minutes, plus chilling
Cook Time: 25-35 minutes
400g sweet pastry
200g dark chocolate
2 egg yolks
1 whole egg
25g caster sugar
200g chopped dark chocolate
Pre-heat oven to 200 degrees (165-180 degrees for fan bake)
Roll pastry onto a floured surface, enough to line a 25cm flan ring tin with an overlapping edge.
Rest in the fridge for 15 minutes.
Line pastry with baking paper and weigh it down with baking beans. Bake for 20 minutes.
When the pastry is baking, melt chocolate and butter in a bowl over a pot of simmering water, whisk it until smooth. Cool slightly. Beat egg yolks, whole egg and sugar in a mixer until thick, then add in the melted chocolate and butter mixture until smooth.
Take the pastry shell out of the oven and turn the oven down to 170 degrees (145-150 degrees fan bake). Remove paper, beans and cut off overlapping pastry from around the edges.
Fill the pastry shell with the chocolate mixture and bake until set – approximately 10-20 minutes. The filling should feel slightly firm to touch with a light crust. Remove from the oven.
