Tirau Travels

Written by Joan Jonkers, Village Resident

Our first outing with Libby our Village Manager. The outing was to Tirau, raining when we left, good weather in Tirau and pouring with rain when we returned home.

We had a lovely day in Tirau with nine of us in the van.

The highlight of the day would have to be taking photos of Libby sitting on a toilet reading the paper! Yes, she had her pants down!!

Coffee was the first order of the day in the Oxford Tea Rooms; followed with a stroll down the road looking and enjoying the things we couldn’t afford to buy.

However, Hilda managed to find the bargain of the day — a smart red, black and white coat which was a perfect fit. Libby bought herself a beautiful large oyster shell to burn candles on. Val bought a rabbit fur poncho with such lovely colours. Elaine purchased a Honey Bee (not a live one) and Joan bought 16 Kiwi keyrings ready for her trip to London later this year.

Back to the Oxford Café for lunch and despite some of us being late back to the 12 noon lunch, we still had time for a drive to Putaruru.

Thank you Libby. We can now recommend you for your driving skills and have no fears for our next trip!
