Debra discovered she had a passion for working with the elderly and has been working in aged care facilities for the last few years.

Debra started as Manager at Cargill Lifecare & Village in January 2021 after a long career in healthcare, more recently working in Aged Care.

Originally from Wyndham, Southland, Debra began her career as a medic in the Royal New Zealand Navy. From there she moved to central Otago where she worked for Healthcare NZ for 13 years, much of that time as Senior Coordinator for all of Southland. “I still have ties to Central, as president of the Alexandra and Clyde RSA,” she says.

Debra discovered she had a passion for working with the elderly and has been working in aged care facilities for the last few years. She’s excited about her role at Cargill, as it was just what she had been looking for. She says, “I love the fact that it’s small, family oriented, and very welcoming.”

Debra was impressed by the fact that Cargill has such a low staff turnover. “We have such a great team here, who all support each other and are so caring towards our residents,” she says.

Debra says Cargill is a lovely environment to be in, the grounds are beautiful and immaculate, and the Care rooms are lovely, fresh and modern after being refurbished over the last 18 months. She says, “I’m in my happy place, supporting the elderly and making each day fun and enjoyable.”
