We’re all just one big family here.
Rosemary, born and bred on a farm just outside Balclutha, has two daughters and two grandchildren. Beginning her nursing career in Balclutha in 1971, it then took her to Christchurch, Cromwell, Australia, and Dunedin, before she returned to Balclutha in 2003.
“My father passed away and I came back to help my mum who was very frail. I started my role as Manager here at Clutha Views Lifecare & Village and about 15 months later she too passed away, just as she was just about to move in!”
Rosemary loves the fact that Clutha Views has such a rural aspect. “We have beautiful panoramic views over farms and sheep in their paddocks… we can see the Nugget Lighthouse at Kaka Point.”
She says that Clutha Views is so friendly and homely due to the wonderful staff and the fact that most of the residents already know each other from the area. “A couple of our staff have been with us for well over 20 years.”
Rosemary says the COVID-19 lockdown really proved how exceptional the people who live and work at Clutha Views are. “We all worked together with the families to make sure we got through the situation as well and as safely as we did.”
She describes Clutha Views Lifecare & Village in one simple sentence, “We’re all just one big family here.”
