They listen to you here, they’re interested in my health and looking after me as a person
Michael grew up in Whanganui then moved to Wellington where he worked at the Dunlop Factory in Upper Hutt. From there he moved to a role at Wairakei in the geothermal area before retiring to Ohope.
He says everything he’s done in life has been interesting and Heritage is no exception.
“I go to the dining room, I enjoy Happy Hour, I play indoor bowls and I use the pool for physio. Charmaine, the pool supervisor, really helps people which is why I’m in better condition now than when I came here in 2016. My attitude is more positive as well and the pool is part of that.”
Michael tells us he doesn’t know many places that offer as much as you get at Heritage. “This place has such a lot going for it, it’s a parkland with so many places to sit.”
He says it’s nice to hear the staff singing in the halls and can’t say enough good things about them. “They listen to you here, they’re interested in my health and looking after me as a person. Robyn, the Care Home & Village Manager lives near my old place in Ohope, we’re good friends.”
