We’ve got great clinical care and the nurses expertise and knowledge is second to none. It’s a happy place
After completing a Bachelor of Nursing degree in Waikato, Terry moved to Gisborne with her husband and four children. One of the first to get expert qualifications for her nursing portfolio, you can tell that both the staff and residents at Heritage are very dear to her heart.
“It’s a homely rest-home with very caring staff. We’ve got great clinical care and the nurses expertise and knowledge is second to none. It’s a happy place.”
Terry thinks that part of the magic is that the whole team are very supportive of each other. “I love the staff, they’re always obliging and nothing’s a problem. The residents are awesome too. I often go round and say hello because I’m the first point of contact and they all know me. Then people know they’ve always got someone to talk to.”
The Care Home is renowned for its Anzac and Armistice Day Services which Terry is quick to credit Lynette the Facility Manager for setting up. “A lot of our residents are Returned Services members and when Lynette realised they couldn’t all get to the local services, we started organising them here. It’s very popular and staff and family all get to take part as well.”
According to Terry, you can read about that and much more in the regular House newsletter that is put together for residents and staff and it’s very wellsubscribed to. “We talk about upcoming events, activities, resident’s surveys, we’ve even got a Wally of the Week – would you believe I’ve been that twice?”!
