Riverside Lifecare
When it comes to everyday life, Riverside makes it easy with Rest Home, Hospital, Day Programme, Respite, Dementia and Palliative Care. The well-appointed rooms all look out onto beautiful rural views and come complete with a nurse call system and WiFi.
Light, bright and peaceful, Riverside is surrounded by farmland in rural New Plymouth, just a hop, skip and jump from the Merrilands shopping centre where you’ll find all the essentials such as a pharmacy. Just a short drive from there and you’re in the New Plymouth city centre.
We offer everything from hairdressing to physiotherapy, podiatry, a scooter bay and SKY TV. We have a range of recreational activities including board games, happy hour, gardening, crafts, indoor bowls and a croquet lawn. Our Care Home van is also always on hand for outings.

Levels of care
Rest Home Care
If you or a loved one have a medical condition or are less able to lead an independent life, our Rest Home living offers dedicated 24/7 care from our team of registered nurses and trained carers.
Hospital Care
If you or a loved one suffer from significant disabilities or medical conditions, particularly where the loss of cognitive abilities is a recognised factor, our Hospital Care could be just what you’re looking for.
Day Programme
If you or your loved one would enjoy some company and activities now and again, many of our Rest Homes invite locals who may be considering a Rest Home to come and enjoy our Day Programme.
Respite Care
Heritage Lifecare Respite services provide carers with a much needed short-term break. It is different from our Day Programme service as it allows guests to stay under our care for more than a day and up to a couple of weeks.
Dementia Care
If you’re looking for Dementia Care, our focus is to alleviate any stress and uncertainty from the moment you and your loved one steps in our door.
Palliative Care
When the time comes that Palliative Care is required, you can be rest assured that Heritage Lifecare will go above and beyond to provide the caring and sympathetic Palliative Care needed by people who are reaching the end of their lives.
Additional Daily Accommodation Charges
We are pleased to be able to offer residents coming into our homes a range of premium room options. The premium room options provide intending residents with choices to suit their individual preferences, e.g. a full en-suite, semi ensuite, larger room or unique view.
A Premium Room Accommodation Charge is a fee that you pay in addition to your Daily Care Fee. The amount of additional charge depends on your rooms features, and this varies based on the premium room features and by Care Home location. Accommodation Premium Room charges range from: $5 to $15*.
