It feels like home
These days Grace’s Scottish accent is barely discernible, probably because she has lived in New Zealand for 72 years. Don’t be fooled
though because as she says ‘if I didn’t feel valued and respected, I’d soon say something. I haven’t got this Scottish blood for nothing.’
Fortunately, Grace tells us she is very well looked after here at Heritage. “I wasn’t feeling well when I first arrived but now I feel really good. I do the exercise class most days, I love the gardens and walking, and Maree, the activities co-ordinator, is absolutely fantastic. I can’t be seen to have favourites though, all the staff look after me so well.”
What does Grace love about Heritage? “the friendliness is what makes it great.” That and the cheeseboard she often requests for her room.
