Ruth was a Director of Nursing for the Darling Downs Health Services, Queensland, before receiving the Government advice to come back to New Zealand due to COVID-19.

“I got the text, as did all Kiwis, on March 22nd and was back home in Whangarei days later.”

Ruth started as Manager at Puriri Court in July and is excited to be offering her experience and skills to help make it the best that it can be.

“I’ve inherited an amazing team who really treats the residents with the respect and care they’d give their grandparents.”

She’s proud that Puriri Court is bringing new offerings in Aged Care to Whangarei, including Palliative Care and Post-Hospital Care, with Registered Nurses on hand 24/7.

Ruth says that, after feeling sad to leave her life in Australia initially, she now feels lucky to be back in her hometown, managing Puriri Court Lifecare.

“I love my job here and feel it was all meant to be.”
